Secure Your Test Keys with This Simple Trick

Do you have the keys to your tests/quizzes/worksheets laying around with “Key” on them? Ever wonder what your less-honest students might do if they saw it? These days with cell phones, it only takes a few seconds to take a photo of your key and send it around to other students.

Early in my career a teacher taught me a way to name keys so I recognize it as my key, but a random students noticing it might not. I put my sister’s name on my keys. You can pick any name you want, but it should seem like a student name, not Rosa Parks or some other famous name that students might be suspicious of or curious about.

That’s all it takes; if you use the same name all the time, you’ll quickly recognize it as your key.
